The 5 Montessori Areas
Montessori Method might be defined as “education by means of freedom in a prepared environment”. The “prepared environment” consists of an open and airy classroom with many materials in each area of learning displayed in an ordered fashion. This ordered environment strives to create an ordered life. The child learns to return each “job” to its place before choosing a new project.
The pre-school child has the free choice of jobs within the prepared environment, which creates independence and self-direction. The free choice is limited to each material not already in use by another child unless the child using a specific material “invites” another child to and or share in the project. This develops the respect of individuals and their rights.
The elementary child works on a “contract” basis. The child has the responsibility of scheduling his or her time to complete a given amount of work in a given amount of time, yet has the freedom of sequence.
At Bambini Montessori School a Montessori environment is integrated along with a traditional learning environment. Through theme based activities the children are exposed to general and practical knowledge that will avail the child in the real world (i.e. The 4 seasons, Transportation, Hygiene). Our graduates leave the school equipped with a solid foundation in the Montessori method, the ability to read and write, and general knowledge and cognizance that give them a head start on the other children. To this date many of our graduates have excelled on the GATE (gifted and talented education) exam and have been admitted to this prestigious program. So give your child a head start in life!
